CHIANG MAI, 19 July 2018 – AirAsia invites everyone to the much-anticipated destination of “Taipei” by introducing “Chiang Mai-Taipei” 4 times a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) from this 30 September, 2018 onward with a promotional fare starting at only 1,590 THB per trip.

Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said Taipei is among the top destinations for Thai travellers as evidenced by tourism statistics as well as a growing number of passengers to the city, which is well known for food, shopping and stunning travel sites that are all within the price range of teenagers, friends, couples and even families. He mentioned the visa waiver for Thai tourists to Taipei has only increased interest and made for many repeat visits by Thai travellers to the country.

“Taipei is a unique city that is particularly conducive to travel by Thai people, especially considering many travellers’ focus on value at present. The city has a wide range of highlights that include day and night shopping; Taipei 101, a landmark that was once the world’s tallest building; places of history such as Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall and the National Palace Museum; natural getaways like Yangmingshan National Park and Beitou Hot Springs and wonderful food, including Taiwan’s famous Bubble Tea. Our introduction of ‘Chiang Mai-Taipei’ means the people of Chiang Mai can now satisfy their desire to visit the capital city while the people of Taipei will be able to fly direct to one of Thailand’s most popular tourist cities. With both cities having such high travel potential, we are sure this will quickly become one of our more popular routes,” Mr. Santisuk said.

The route is also part of AirAsia’s continued effort to work in line with national tourism plans. The airline is seeking to use its rapidly growing network of domestic and international flight routes to help draw more people to Chiang Mai. At the beginning of the year the airline added “Chiang Mai-Yangon” and now with “Chiang Mai-Taipei” it believes the city can use its charm to attract even more visitors.

The Chiang Mai-Taipei route is being introduced with a special promotional fare staring at only 1,590 THB one way. Book today to 29 July, 2018 for travel from 30 September, 2018 to 29 March 2019 at www.airasia.com and all other ticketing channels.
