AirAsia Philippines celebrates with Miss Universe Philippines Beatrice Gomez as she claims Top 5 spot in MU 2021

Manila, Philippines, 12 December 2021 – AirAsia, the world’s best low-cost airline, extends its warmest congratulations to Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Bea Gomez for successfully showing the universe the rich culture and formidable character of Filipinos. Beatrice landed at the top 5 queens in the competition, being one of the only two representatives from Asia to do so.

AirAsia, as the official airline partner of Miss Universe Philippines, is immensely proud of Bea for being the embodiment of Filipino resilience and determination on the Miss Universe stage.

AirAsia Philippines Head of Communications and Public Affairs Steve Dailisan shares: “Beatrice Gomez has shown the world that nothing can topple the Filipino spirit. The story she brought and told during the Miss Universe pageant underscored how Filipinos, despite all the tribulations, are able to courage on. Indeed, resilience and determination are among all the beautiful values that make up the Filipino DNA -- and this is something that AirAsia will always celebrate.”

“The horizon is getting brighter, and with optimism and fortitude, we know we’ll be flying with everyone again soon. To Bea, we are excited to welcome you back home. We are excited to fly you to all AirAsia destinations and support your advocacies centered on promoting the welfare of the children. Congratulations from all the Filipino Allstars.”

Bea and AirAsia Philippines share the same belief that tourism and travel reopening plays a pivotal role in the positive progress of other social concerns, like regional economic development and child welfare. AirAsia Philippines has awarded the Visayan queen with unlimited flights as she joins the airline’s roster of ambassadors for safe travel resumption and domestic tourism recovery.

Despite not snagging the much-coveted crown, Bea Gomez’ run at the Miss Universe 2021 pageant is still celebrated by Filipinos across the nation. Her performance was lauded by pageant experts, with Bea consistently being among those that have been forecasted to win pre-pageant.

The 26-year old Cebuana and Philippine Navy Reservist was commended for tastefully including cultural hallmarks in her Miss Universe campaign, like when she donned a Bakunawa-themed national costume which highlighted the colorful mythological lores present in the Philippines. Bea’s national costume is ranked as one of the best from the Philippines to ever grace the Miss Universe stage. She also proudly flaunted the work of world-renowned Filipino designer Francis Libiran for both her preliminary and coronation night formal ramps, showcasing Filipino art and craftsmanship to the millions that tuned in on the competition.

Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Bea Gomez is the first LGBTQIA+ member to represent the country in the world’s biggest pageant. Besides f wearing her colors proudly, Bea received the love and support of her kababayans for the noble causes she stands for like youth empowerment, the welfare of children affected by crime and conflicts, and community development. She is closely working with Children in Contact with the Law at a juvenile facility called Operation Second Chance of the Department of Social Welfare Services of Cebu City.
