AirAsia Academy collaborates with Malaysia Red Crescent to make volunteer work more efficient

KUALA LUMPUR, 5 December 2021 - AirAsia Academy (formerly known as Redbeat Academy) has formed a partnership with Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) for the launch of a volunteering crowdsourcing web based application. Titled MySukarela, the platform by MRCS is designed to integrate and coordinate all volunteering efforts in Malaysia to help the process of volunteer work to be easier and more efficient.

President of AirAsia Digital Aireen Omar and Tuan Haji Hakim bin Haji Hamzah, Honorary Secretary General of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) attended the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) between the two sides that took place in downtown KL this Sunday.

President (AirAsia Digital), AirAsia Group, Aireen Omar said “We wholeheartedly welcome the partnership with Malaysian Red Crescent Society as it’s an extension of the mission of AirAsia Academy, which started with upskilling and reskilling our Allstars (AirAsia staff) but now serves anyone, who wants to build the necessary skill sets to be successful in the digital economy. We have pilots who have reskilled as data analysts, aircraft engineer as software engineer, control centre operator as digital marketer and many more. We have evolved much bigger now from what we used to be.

“We will use our expertise in education and training to help the hundreds of thousands of volunteers on the platform to be equipped with the relevant mindset and skill sets in their volunteer work, such as social skills, emotional intelligence, problem solving skills etc. They are also able to explore all the other learning content on our platform including tech, business, leadership or lifestyle related topics which can help them achieve their professional and personal goals.”

Tuan Haji Hakim bin Haji Hamzah, Honorary Secretary General of Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with the online education platform at AirAsia, one of the most well-established and respected brands in Asia, to make the volunteer sign up process seamless and hassle-free. This comes on the heels of the success of MyVac which saw 320k volunteers registered onto the platform. We trust that AirAsia Academy is the right choice as the training service provider for our volunteers.”
