AirAsia teams up with CLS Holiday for Asia’s first blind-box tour

Guests on “No Clue Escape” flight departs HK for mystery destination today

HONG KONG, 20 September 2024 - Asia’s very first blind-box style tour organized by AirAsia and Hong Kong-based CLS Holiday took off from Hong Kong today carrying 20 guests on the surprise ‘No Clue Escape’ journey all the way to the Indian Ocean island paradise, the Maldives, with a short stopover in Kuala Lumpur.

AirAsia and CLS Holiday announced the ‘No Clue Escape’ last month, inviting guests to sign up for the surprise trip without revealing the actual destination.

Members of the group only discovered their mystery destination aboard AirAsia flight AK139 from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur this afternoon. To heighten the excitement, details about the getaway location were kept under wraps until the group was at 30,000 feet above the sea level. AirAsia created special blind boxes and unique souvenirs as teasers for each guest on this special flight. The destination was finally revealed by the cabin crew through a signature AirAsia fun entertainment engagement.

The ‘No Clue Escape' group departed from Hong Kong International Airport at noon today (11:55 AM) on an AirAsia flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia before connecting to the Maldives.

In addition to participants recruited publicly, the group also includes Hong Kong singer Endy Chow and several social media influencers.

Throughout their five-day stay in the Maldives, the special guests will be staying at Bandos Maldives, partaking in city tours of the capital Malé, and enjoying various sea excursions, soaking up the sun and relaxation activities in the island paradise.

The “No Clue Escape” tour is a unique brand promotion initiative organised by AirAsia and CLS Holiday. Through this campaign, AirAsia aims to enhance the understanding and awareness amongst travellers in Hong Kong of the airline brand and its extensive network across Asia and the Pacific, while embodying the brand message of “Small Win, Big Happiness”. The goal is to encourage travellers to embrace flying and explore a variety of new or favoured destinations through convenient transfers. With an affordable budget, travellers can have access to up to 130 destinations within the AirAsia network. Hong Kong is connected to all AirAsia’s key hubs of Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Manila and soon Jakarta, from which guests can further connect to destinations across Asia, Australia and Africa.

The ‘No Clue Escape’ tour marks CLS Holiday’s inaugural partnership venture with AirAsia. The mystery package was offered at a shockingly attractive price of HKD 4,888 (including tax), which covers return airfares with 20 kg of luggage, meals, accommodation, and local transportation. The limited package was immediately snapped up within days, showing the travellers in Hong Kong are eager to embrace new and exciting experiences.

Terence So, AirAsia’s Head of Marketing for Greater China said: "We are thrilled to know that the event has been well received by holidaymakers and has captured everyone's attention. It was fully booked in no time! I am very grateful to our partner CLS Holiday for designing this special itinerary, which allows group members to fly to the Maldives — a hugely popular destination for Hong Kong travellers — via Kuala Lumpur at super great value. This aligns perfectly with our brand spirit of "喜細飛" (Small Win, Big Happiness). Let’s explore more of Asia, Southeast Asia and beyond, with access to 130 destinations. We hope everyone enjoys themselves on this trip and we look forward to bringing more exciting offers to travellers in the Hong Kong market.”

Frankie Chow, Founder of CLS Holiday said:"I would like to express my gratitude for the swift booking of this tour group. A special thanks goes to the media for their extensive coverage and for sharing it on social media, which helped raise awareness of this exciting and unique travel product. I also want to thank AirAsia once again for their bold initiatives and seamless coordination throughout the process, ensuring that the tour group received full support from conception to implementation. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate again in the future to introduce more innovative and engaging tourism products to the Hong Kong market.”
