AirAsia Heralds Visa Free Chinese Travel Promotional Fare from Only 199 CNY* for Chinese Tourists to Thailand

BANGKOK, 25 September 2023 - AirAsia is heralding the Thai government’s visa free policy for Chinese visitors with a promotion on flights starting from only 199 CNY* per trip with bookings available this 25 September 2023 to 1 October 2023 for travel from 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2024 in the hopes of boosting tourism from China during National Day in October and Chinese New Year in February.

The visa free policy allows Chinese tourists to enter Thailand without the need to request a visa in advance and will be in effect from 25 September 2023 to 29 February 2024, a total of five months. The policy is an urgent measure to stimulate tourism by the administration and is expected to bolster the number of Chinese visitors to Thailand during the high season.

Thai AirAsia X flight XJ761, Shanghai – Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi), was honored at Suvarnabhumi Airport by Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Srettha Thavisin, accompanied by Miss ThapaneeKiatphaibool, TAT Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, who reviewed immigration procedures and welcomed arriving Chinese visitors. At Don Mueang Airport, flight FD583 from Kunming to Bangkok (Don Mueang) was received with a warm welcoming ceremony.

Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia, underlined the positive response to the Thai government’s visa free policy and noted expectations Chinese tourist numbers will increase significantly, especially as the year end travel season begins with National Day celebrations and during Chinese New Year in 2024, two occasions that spur travel in the Chinese market, in particular to top destination Thailand.

“Being a member of the private sector in the tourism industry, we are ecstatic the government has expediently carried out this visa free measure and is helping to bolster Thailand’s image in China. Once the policy takes effect, we expect to see a hike in Chinese travelers to Thailand and will be introducing promotions to further encourage travel” Mr. Santisuk said.
