BANGKOK, 27 September 2024 - AirAsia, World’s Best Low-Cost Airline 15 years running as ranked by Skytrax, is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability at Sustainability Expo 2024 (SX 2024), where the carrier will be promoting sustainability in the commercial aviation sector by focusing on two concepts at its booth, namely ‘AirAsia’s Green Journey’ and ‘Your Green Journey with AirAsia’. On 3 October 2024, as part of Chief Sustainability Officers (CSO) Forum, get updated with Ms.Yap Mun Ching, Capital A Chief Sustainability Officer, in the panel discussion on “Integrating Climate Change into Risk Management and Business Strategy from 11.15 – 12.15 hrs. Also catch the highlight this 4 October 2024 and hear about the airline’s approach to sustainability direct from Capital A Group CEO, Tony Fernandes, and Frasers Property Group CEO, Panote Sirivadhanabhakdi, as they speak on the topic “Sustainable Hospitality and Mobility” from 09.00 – 09.40 hrs.

The ‘AirAsia Green Journey’ track outlines the airline’s pathway to decarbonisation, including how it aims to achieve its Net Zero 2050 goal through a comprehensive set of methods, from fleet renewal to fuel efficiency initiatives and carbon credits among others. The airline is also presenting its internal sustainability practices, includingthe 3R principle, application of digitalization for journeys, choosing eco-friendly food packaging on flights and the Your Green Journey with AirAsia concept, which supports passengers to reduce their carbon footprint while engaging in tourism.

The AirAsia booth will also feature fun activities, interactive information for learning, games with prizes and rewards from the “Soggy-No-More” project, which upcycles life-vests into designer bags, as well as from the Journey D program, contributing community-made products that were once sold in-flight. Sustainability Expo 2024 (SX 2024) is the largest sustainability convention in the ASEAN region and is in its fifth year. Seeking “Good Balance, Better World”, the event this year is commencing with the concept “Sufficiency for Sustainability” and bringing together the organizations of its network to forge a platform of collaboration aimed at regional sustainability. The expo is introducing an approach dubbed B2C2B (Business-to-Consumer-to-Business) that centers sustainability efforts around consumers by creating a loop from businesses to consumers and consumers back to businesses.
