Modern Day Heroes, alwaysREDy to Serve

Air travel hasn’t been the same since early last year, and amidst an ongoing health crisis, one can only imagine the tough challenge of having to run an airline in today’s world. Through hectic work weeks, tough decisions, and managing multiple tasks and functions, modern day heroes are found in almost every corner of RedPoint, the AirAsia Philippines headquarters.

One of them is Captain Gomer Monreal, Director of Flight Operations who sees to it that he is always on top of his game ensuring that everything goes smoothly beyond every take-off and landing. Captain Gomer has been with AirAsia from its roots, present in its many milestones and pivotal moments.

Aside from his key role in the airline, Captain Gomer is a Philippine Air Force (PAF) reservist and played a crucial part in officiating AirAsia as an airline affiliate of the PAF Reserve Command, allowing the airline to assist in humanitarian missions and services.

As an Allstar, he goes above and beyond these responsibilities by conducting sustainable measures in building a better nation. When able, Captain Gomer shares what he knows to pilots of the PAF by being a resource speaker on relevant topics such as promoting and enhancing safety and security within the organization.

AirAsia Philippines Director of Flight Operations Captain Gomer Monreal said, “Nation-building has always been (and will always be) a shared commitment and selfless service among the private sector, the government and uniformed personnel together with the community. AirAsia will always be a prime partner of our stakeholders in ensuring safe and accessible skies for all.”

Captain Gomer is also in charge of leading AirAsia’s reservist operations and managing nearly a hundred Allstar reservists who volunteer and are on-call under the company’s recently launched Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program called “alwaysREDy: Anytime, Anywhere”, bringing much needed help to Filipinos in times of national crises, and for emergency, humanitarian, rescue, and medical missions.

Captain Gomer and the 99 Allstar reservists are only some of the modern day heroes we have in AirAsia. Today, we also celebrate the Allstars; unsung heroes both on-air and on-ground for their bravery, dedication, and service to the Filipino people.

Today, we celebrate them for their achievements and sacrifices in doing their part to help essential workers get to their respective destinations and in helping uplift the aviation industry. We also celebrate their leaders for being heroes, and for molding heroes in their respective teams.

To the Allstar heroes, thank you for doing all that you can despite tough working conditions. No guest nor plane could take off without your hard work. Thank you for serving the nation.

To all hardworking heroes of the modern times, Happy National Heroes day!
