FAROUK KAMAL
Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Corporate), AirAsia Aviation Group
Farouk Kamal joins AirAsia Aviation Group as the Deputy Group CEO (Corporate) effective 8 January 2024. His key priorities will be to lead the Corporate portfolio, covering Finance, Corporate Finance, Aircraft Leasing, Legal, and Investor Relations and Strategy. He will also provide oversight on Internal Audit and Risk Management for the Aviation Group.
Farouk has over 15 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, equities research and equities trading, working in institutions such as Deutsche Bank, J.P. Morgan, and Credit Suisse. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Urusharta Jamaah, a Government Linked Investment Company (GLIC), where he was tasked with the management and rehabilitation of over RM10 billion worth of assets.
Farouk has advised clients on numerous mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, equity and equity-linked as well as debt capital market transactions and was involved in several landmark deals in Malaysia.
Farouk holds an MSc in Finance and Economics as well as a BSc in Economics degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
