AirAsia to move its operations in Yogyakarta to Yogyakarta International Airport, Kulon Progo starting 29 March 2020

YOGYAKARTA, 18 March 2020 - AirAsia will move all its operations in Yogyakarta from the Adisutjipto International Airport (JOG) to the newly completed Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo starting 29 March 2020.

All guests with flight bookings to and from Yogyakarta on 29 March 2020 onwards have been notified through email and SMS, and will receive new flight itineraries via email. Guests who have checked in prior to this announcement are required to check-in again using the new itinerary.

Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is located in Kulon Progo regency, about 50 kilometres east of Yogyakarta city centre. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to reach the airport by road on normal traffic and is easily reachable by public transportation such as bus and taxi. The airport is connected with various points in and around Yogyakarta using shuttle service, including to the nearest train service in Wojo Station, 15 minutes from the airport.

The new airport terminal area is eight times larger than the old one. Therefore, guests are advised to allocate ample time to arrive at the airport before departure and adjust their travelling plans accordingly. Guests with domestic flights must arrive at the airport 2 hours before scheduled departure time, or 3 hours prior for guests with international flights.

AirAsia check-in counters for both domestic and international flights are available at the departure level, check-in island A, counter numbers 25 to 32.

AirAsia domestic flight check-in will be closed 30 minutes before scheduled departure time, whilst international check-in closes 45 minutes before flight. Self check-in kiosks are available only up to 1 hour before scheduled departure time.

For convenience, AirAsia strongly encourages all guests to perform self check-in online and print their boarding passes before coming to the airport. Online check-in is available 14 days up to 1 hour before scheduled departure time on airasia.com or AirAsia mobile apps.

For guests who are unable to travel to or from Kulon Progo due to this move, AirAsia is offering the following service recovery options:
