IKHLAS for Palestine fund collects RM170,000, targets RM1 million to aid 7,000 families in Palestine

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 November 2023 – The IKHLAS for Palestine humanitarian fund that was reactivated by Ikhlas Com Travel Sdn Bhd (ikhlas.com) and Malaysian Humanitarian Aid and Relief (MAHAR) since 20 October has successfully generated RM170,250 within one week.

The total amount will be fully utilised to deliver humanitarian aid in the form of food baskets containing basic necessities to the affected families in Palestine.

ikhlas.com Chief Executive Officer, Ikhlas Kamarudin said, ikhlas.com is targeting a total collection of RM1 million to send aid for nearly 7,000 families affected by the Israel Zionist army attack on the Gaza Strip. 

“100% of the funds from the IKHLAS for Palestine humanitarian fund will be channelled directly to the Palestinians. This is a continuation of the collaboration between ikhlas.com and MAHAR with its experience and aid network resources in the war-ridden territory.

“We urge Malaysians to donate either through the ikhlas.com app or website so that more victims can be assisted as soon as possible,” said Ikhlas.

MAHAR President, Jismi Johari said: “We will utilise donations for the first phase that is expected to reach RM1 million for emergency assistance like hot food packs, basic essentials, medical aid, water and others.

“Although delivery of supplies is still being blocked in the Gaza Strip, we will do all we can to ensure Palestinians deprived of basic supplies will receive aid as soon as possible,” said Jismi.

He added that on 3 November, MAHAR is collaborating with 49 non-governmental organisations (NGO) to deliver humanitarian aid including medical supplies and other essential items to Gaza via the Rafah crossing.

The IKHLAS for Palestine fund started in May 2021 with the objective to deliver emergency aid to Palestinians who lost their homes when their residents were attacked by the Zionist army.
