Managing Director of AirAsia Malaysia
Dato’ Captain Fareh Mazputra has been appointed as the Managing Director of AirAsia Malaysia in July 2024. He has played a significant role in shaping the airline's operational and safety standards over his extensive career.
Captain Fareh’s journey with AirAsia began in 1997, and his illustrious flying career spans over 30 years, including stints with Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways, flying the Boeing B737, Airbus A320, and A330. His transition into management started in 2009 when he was appointed Director of Flight Operations, where he led initiatives to enhance overall safety standards and operational efficiency, including launching a pioneering fuel efficiency program.
In 2010, Captain Fareh spearheaded Asia's first Multi-crew Pilot License (MPL) program, setting new benchmarks for pilot training in the region. He further demonstrated his leadership as CEO of the Asian Aviation Centre of Excellence (AACE), AirAsia’s joint-venture training arm, from 2013 to 2017. Under his stewardship, AACE conducted operational training for pilots, engineers, and cabin crew for over 30 airlines, training 15,000 people annually.
Returning to the airline, Captain Fareh served as Head of Flight Crew Resourcing and Head of Pilot Training and Standards before his current appointment. Throughout his career, he has been building and driving continuous improvement culture within the organisation and been a champion of inclusivity, diversity, and sustainability within the aviation industry, such as promoting more female acceptance for a career as a pilot and supporting individual professional development for internal career growth.
