FINGAL HEAD, 9 August 2019 – Fingal Head will play home to a celebration of surf and indigenous culture this weekend as surfers from across Australia come together for the AirAsia Juraki Surf Invitational 2019.

The event will take place from Friday 9 August - Sunday 11 August, and in addition to the surfing competition will feature food, live music, kids surfing lessons, markets and a cultural program.

Rudy Khaw, Head of Branding at AirAsia Group said, “AirAsia is proud to be the official airline of Australian surfing and partner of the AirAsia Juraki Surf Invitational 2019.

“The Gold Coast became our home in Australia when we began flying here in 2007. This fits beautifully with the concept of Juraki which is all about a sense of belonging and connecting with community.”

“We love surfing, the people and the local community, and are very proud to be partnering with Juraki for the second year.”

AirAsia’s very own Gold Coast Station Manager and Tweed local, Logan Mana-Howe will compete and captain the New Zealand Maori team.

AirAsia’s Beach Club will be set up giving spectators the opportunity to relax on deck chairs under beach umbrellas with fresh coconuts.

Juraki is an not-for-profit community entity committed to creating, supporting & partnering in community activities, programs and sporting events that close the gap for Indigenous people.
