Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia YB Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar bin Wan Chik, AirAsia X Chairman Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, AirAsia X Board of Director Dato’ Fam Lee Ee and AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail who were onboard the inaugural flight were greeted by Okinawa Prefecture Governor Denny Tamaki at Naha Airport on arrival.

“AirAsia’s large fleet and broad network enable us to operate at optimum efficiency and low cost, which is why we can continue to offer the region’s best value fares to our guests. With this new route, we welcome more travellers to join over 600 million guests who have flown with us so far.

“This year is also Visit Malaysia Year 2020, and many events and activities are being mounted to attract foreign visitors and to showcase Malaysia’s natural attractions, cultural diversity, and of course the opportunities and potential for doing business, in and with Malaysia, to cater for the domestic, regional and global markets.

“As we begin to accept the delivery of the technologically-advanced Airbus A330neo aircraft later this year, the Group will continue to evaluate and consider launching exciting and viable new routes to destinations such as in Eastern Europe, within Asia and Australia. Such new routes, if viable, can accelerate domestic and regional tourism growth, especially in key markets with high demand,” added Tan Sri Rafidah.
