KUALA LUMPUR, 5 August 2022 - AirAsia returns to the “runway” this year in celebration of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW)’s 10th year anniversary with the first ever collaboration between KLFW and AirAsia Academy, the edutech arm under Capital A Berhad (formerly AirAsia Group).

With the mission to combine the elements of fashion, technology and education, AirAsia Academy embarks on a partnership with KLFW to provide exclusive insights into the world of fashion and the talents behind them. AirAsia Academy’s newly launched On-Demand Learning (ODL) platform will feature a designated KLFW channel as the official content aggregator for all things fashion.

Aireen Omar, President (Ventures) Capital A & CEO of AirAsia Academy says that the ODL platform can be a one stop edutech center for fashion designers to showcase their talent and uniqueness as well as enhance their knowledge and skills to elevate the Malaysian fashion scene.

“In order to help maintain the viability of the Malaysian fashion industry, we believe that there is a need for a brand extension platform for the designers to showcase their offerings and this can be done through insightful content sharing with the audience,” she explains.

AirAsia has a long history of partnership with the KLFW starting in 2015 with the AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search (AARRDS) to empower youth and developing young talents in the fashion industry across the ASEAN region. Meanwhile, AirAsia Foundation (AAF), the philanthropic arm of (then) AirAsia Group, made its debut at KLFW 2019 with conceptual design house Projek Jahat by launching the GOOD/jahat/ capsule collection made entirely from upcycled AirAsia materials.

To commemorate the long-standing alliance between both entities, AirAsia Academy is opening its ODL platform for emerging young designers and more established, renowned designers to reach out to a wider audience who are genuinely interested in pursuing a career in the glamorous yet challenging  industry. Budding fashion students and lecturers can also fully utilize the platform to share their ideas and content while fashion business consultants can also make use of the virtual venue for networking and knowledge sharing with more stakeholders in the market.

The exclusive KLFW x AirAsia Academy ODL content offerings include behind the scenes of KLFW, fashion fundamentals (Fashion 101), designers tips and tricks, fashion technology trends and more.

“We can also cater to fashion designers and talents who are keen to reskill or upskill with instructor-led training (ILT) courses which can be tailored specifically to meet the requirements of today’s digital-centric industry,” Aireen adds.

The specialised and accredited ILT courses include Google Data Studio where professional trainers can facilitate and guide fashion designers/business owners with planning and converting data into sales reports and Digital Marketing where fashion business owners can learn the importance of Digital Marketing to build online presence and brand loyalty.

Besides that, they can also acquire technical knowledge on leveraging data analytics to forecast fashion trends, measure clients interest, business progress and digital web analytics with Data Analytics and Soft Skills to help fashion talents, entrepreneurs and industry movers improve their presentation and communication skills to attract clients and grow the business.

AirAsia Academy looks forward to expanding its offerings of fashion education and technology-based content with this latest partnership with KLFW. For more information about the Academy, visit airasiaacademy.com.
