Safeguard your baggage–and peace of mind–with these top tips when preparing for your next flight!

Best for your carry on

Valuables such as money and jewelry should always be kept close. These items are not only susceptible to damage but can sometimes also attract unwanted attention–so keep the bling on board and add these to your carry-on!

Important papers like your passport, travel documents, boarding passes, and IDs are also best kept in your hand carry. Losing these items can lead to disruptions to your journey, or worse identity theft. Keep them within arm's reach always.

Electronics and gadgets like laptops, tablets, and cameras should also be placed in your hand carry. Don’t forget they have delicate and often fragile components.

Medications such as prescription medicines, medical devices, and any other health-related items should also be kept in your hand luggage. It's essential to have immediate access to these in case of emergencies and to ensure your well-being.

Bear in mind, when flying with AirAsia, all guests (except infants) are allowed to carry on board two pieces of cabin baggage, the total weight of both pieces must not exceed 7kg.

Want even more convenience? The World’s Best Low-Cost Airline offers additional baggage allowance options starting from PHP 690 on domestic flights and PHP 1470 on international flights.

The journey of your check-in baggage

For larger, more cumbersome baggage, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline offers passengers a flexible check-in allowance: get up to 60kg with no limit on the number of bags checked in.

Once checked-in baggage is accepted by the red-and-white counters, it is turned over to the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) for added security inspections. While these are essential, guests should keep in mind that baggage may be opened and inspected by the OTS before being cleared to fly.

Prohibited items are commonly returned to the check-in counters which may sometimes cause delays. To ensure a safe and hassle-free trip, avoid bringing any of the following in your check-in baggage: Corrosive substances such as flammable and hazardous materials, mechanical tools, explosives, and the like. Additionally, batteries and power banks are also strictly prohibited from being stored inside check-in baggage and should be kept in your carry-on.

According to the OTS, a number of prohibited items seized in airports include live bullets and "non-live" bullets such as those kept as amulets or gifts—guests should avoid bringing such souvenirs as well.

After passing this last checkpoint, AirAsia’s Allstar ramp agents take over to load the baggage safely on the aircraft. For any discrepancies or damage encountered with check-in baggage, guests are reminded to raise it immediately with ground staff or customer service counters in your airport of destination.
