Indonesia AirAsia Launches Direct Bali–Da Nang Route, Strengthening Regional Tourism Connectivity in Southeast Asia
Jakarta, 9 January 2026 – Indonesia AirAsia, begins the year by launching a new international route connecting Bali and Da Nang, Vietnam, scheduled to commence operations on 20 March 2026. This direct service marks Indonesia AirAsia’s seventh international route from its Bali hub, further strengthening tourism flows within Southeast Asia while providing more convenient access for travelers to enjoy two of the region’s leading leisure destinations.
“This new service strengthens tourism connectivity across Southeast Asia, giving travellers seamless access between Bali and Da Nang, a route operated exclusively by Indonesia AirAsia. With Vietnam joining AirAsia’s existing connections across Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Australia, travelers now enjoy greater choice, flexibility and convenience when exploring destinations throughout the ASEAN region,” said Acting President Director of Indonesia AirAsia, Captain Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman.
Capt. Sadikin added that the introduction of the Bali–Da Nang route also strengthens connectivity between Indonesia and Vietnam, including through fly-thru services from Jakarta and Labuan Bajo to Da Nang via Bali. The route offers a broader multi-destination travel experience for individual travelers, groups of friends, and families alike, by enabling visitors to explore more than one destination within a single journey. With this direct service, travel to Central Vietnam becomes more seamless, while remaining well connected to Indonesia AirAsia’s international network from Bali to various destinations in Australia, including Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne (from 20 March 2026).
Vietnam welcomed more than 19 million international visitors in the first eleven months of 2025, representing an increase of approximately 20.9% compared to the same period the previous year. This growth underscores Vietnam’s position as one of Southeast Asia’s leading tourism destinations. The Southeast Asian market, including Indonesia, posted growth of 13.8% as one of Vietnam’s contributing source markets.
Meanwhile, Indonesia received 13.9 million international visitors during the same period, with 80,313 visitors originating from Vietnam. This reflects the growing potential for two-way tourism exchange between the two countries.
Da Nang, Vietnam’s fifth-largest city and widely known as the “Miami of Vietnam,” has gained increasing popularity among travelers and on social media, driven by its pristine beaches, modern urban atmosphere, vibrant nightlife, and rows of street-side cafés offering visually appealing experiences. Located along Vietnam’s central coast, the city also boasts rich cultural and natural attractions, including its iconic lantern festivals, and serves as a gateway to renowned nearby destinations such as Hoi An and Hue.
Meanwhile, Bali has long been recognized as one of Southeast Asia’s premier tourism destinations, offering a diverse range of attractions, from the cultural heart of Ubud and popular beaches such as Kuta, Seminyak, and Nusa Dua, to the natural beauty of Uluwatu and Nusa Penida. Supported by well-developed tourism infrastructure and an extensive international flight network, Bali serves as a strategic gateway for travelers continuing their journeys to various international destinations.
“This multi-destination travel pattern is expected to drive the growth of cross-border tourism while further enhancing the exchange of international visitors between Indonesia and Vietnam,” Capt. Sadikin concluded.
