AirAsia Pioneers Farm-to-Air Dining Experience

TAGAYTAY CITY, 16 January 2019 – AirAsia is taking travellers on a new food adventure that is delightfully good for the heart and soul. The airline which has been voted the World’s Best Low Cost Carrier for ten straight years today formally introduced, farm-to-air dining experience as part of its newest “Santan” inflight menu.

AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador said, “Santan came about in 2015 as a tribute to ASEAN flavors, and here we are four years after, welcoming this year with a concept that is both good for the heart and nourishing for the soul. We are promoting healthy eating and helping Filipino farmers at the same time.”

As part of AirAsia’s commitment to support Filipino farmers, the airline is elevating the farm-to-table social movement to dining experience on air. Farm-to-air aims to offer a variety of inflight meals using only fresh harvests and ingredients directly sourced from farmers across the country.

In partnership Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay, AirAsia is now offering Chipotle Chicken Wrap and Caesar Salad at P100 and P120, respectively on all AirAsia flights with Z2 code to and from the Philippines.

Fresh and new items in the Santan menu are California Crab Onigiri, Korean Beef Stew with kimchi rice, Cheesy Pesto and Tomato Bun, Corned Beef Bun and an array of sweets such as Brazo de Mercedes, Cookies and Cream Parfait and Butterscotch Bars from as low as P70.00 only.

Sunset Bursts, a two-layered strawberry and lychee drink with coconut jelly sinkers, is a refreshing and healthier alternative to milk tea shakes and it comes in 16oz cup at P120 only. The delicious part is watching the cabin crew prepare your drink while cruising at 30,000 feet above.

Merchandise items by Filipino and social entrepreneurs from ASEAN countries such as Kahon Abaca Macrame Bag, travel accessories, upcycled jewelry, bamboo toothbrush, metal straw and abaca bucket are also available for sale onboard starting from P180 only.

“We value customer happiness from all points of the journey, from the purchase of the ticket to leaving the airport, on board, and onto the destination,” Comendador added.

All AirAsia guests are encouraged to pre-book their meals to save up to 20% as compared to purchasing their meals on board, with a guarantee that their preferred meals are available during their flights. Guests who have booked their flights without meals, meanwhile, can easily add them in via the ‘Manage My Booking’ option after logging in to www.airasia.com.
