AirAsia Indonesia CEO Veranita Yosephine recognised with Global Aviation Achievement Award

JAKARTA, 31 March 2021 - AirAsia Indonesia CEO Veranita Yosephine has been awarded with one of the first global ‘AeroTime Aviation Achievement Awards’ for her outstanding work, not only as CEO AirAsia Indonesia but for championing global workplace equality and diversity.

The only serving female airline CEO currently in Indonesia, Vera has led the company's phenomenal expansion into a double-digit growth by the end of 2019, and weathered the pandemic to pose a strong rebound at the end of 2020 with domestic service running at a remarkable 93% of AirAsia Indonesia’s pre-Covid capacity in December.

AeroTime Hub congratulated Vera in an announcement published today here.

Vera was acknowledged for her impressive background in championing diversity and equality at the workplace and also for her dedication to AirAsia Indonesia, spearheading the future of the airline through its most challenging times.

Veranita Yosephine said: “I am honoured to receive this award which was not at all expected. The topics around gender equality, diversity, and how to bring people together in aviation are very close to my heart.  This is a recognition not only for me but also for all women especially my colleagues in AirAsia and the aviation industry.  We look forward to future collaborations to further promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in aviation so that we can bring the best talents to the industry as we prepare to paint the skies red again.

“I would like to commend AeroTime Hub for their efforts in helping women thrive and access more opportunities the world over. We indeed need more people and organisations like AeroTime Hub to drive this further for the benefit of all women in aviation.”

CEO of AirAsia Group Tony Fernandes commented: “This is an outstanding achievement by Vera and one I am incredibly proud of. Vera is a true trailblazer and what she is doing for our airline in Indonesia but also for worldwide equality in aviation is truly commendable.

“AirAsia has always been a champion for equality and diversity. We are a strong believer in encouraging greater diversity in the workplace and this has contributed immensely towards creating an environment that encourages positions of leadership for many women across the group. Also, we were the first airline in the entire Asean to open doors to female pilots in 2009, and now have one of the highest ratios of female to male pilots and engineers in the region. ”

Richard Stephenson OBE, CEO of AeroTime Hub said “This award is to recognise Vera’s outstanding contribution to the industry and to promoting equality.  Despite being a relative newcomer to the aviation industry,  Vera has already made a big difference and we are inspired by her energy and determination.”

“This award is given to people who have made a difference to the industry and the first ten recipients are all women.  Vera is one of the very first people to receive the award, along with a Senior Vice President of Airbus, Chief Customer Officer of Rolls Royce, Directors of the United States FAA, and a Director of the UK Space Agency. The award is to recognise the achievement of these inspirational women who have done amazing things promoting equality and change in our industry. We are so delighted to be able to present this much deserved award to Vera.”
