AirAsia Ready to Welcome More Guests During Peak Year-End Season Upholds TAT and MOPH Travel Safety Policies

BANGKOK, 6 October, 2021- AirAsia has joined hands with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Ministry of Public Health to launch  special flights this 6-7 October, 2021 between Bangkok (Don Mueang) and Chiang Mai to help boost  confidence and domestic tourism sentiment ahead of the end-of-year peak travel season.

These services will showcase the comprehensive health and screening measures being applied on  all flights to a delegation led by Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, and including  public and private sector executives as well as members of the media.

AirAsia Thailand Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, stated that since September 2021, the airline has been gradually resuming domestic services and facilitating necessary travel requirements.  Within October, AirAsia will expand its services to a total 20 domestic routes, operating up to 30 flights a day in response to pent-up demand and to help stimulate   tourism, which is also returning under stringent COVID-19 prevention measures.

“October onward is considered Thailand’s end-of-year travel season and is when TAT will be implementing the third phase of its ‘We Travel Together’ program, aimed at boosting travel across the country.  In support of this and other state policies for reopening the Kingdom, we have reinforced our health and safety protocols and worked closely with all stakeholders to ensure that we meet all provincial screening regulations.  All of our service staff have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccination and will continue to undergo regular tests in adherence to relevant requirements,” Mr. Santisuk said.

The travel season heralding journey took place earlier today on Thai AirAsia flight FD3435 from Don Mueang to Chiang Mai.  The trip reinforced  how AirAsia is providing safe, convenient and comfortable air  travel while maintaining comprehensive measures to mitigate any  COVID-19 risk, from the airport to inflight  and to when passengers disembark at  Chiang Mai.  Screening begins at check-in where  passengers are able to present a Digital Health Pass QR Code using their Mor Prom application, which displays all of their COVID-19 relevant information without the need for physical contact.

“We believe domestic tourism will begin to recover in the fourth quarter of this year as more people return to travel in light of the nationwide vaccination effort, effective COVID-19 infection controls, relaxed restrictions and various  promotional travel campaigns being launched through cooperative partnerships  between the public and private sectors.  The health and wellbeing of our staff and guests is always our top priority. AirAsia is fully ready to serve everyone once again” Mr. Santisuk said.

To ensure safety for its guests and employees, and as part of its Covid-19 mitigation plan, AirAsia encourages all guests to check-in via the airasia Super App. Guests should make full use of the airasia Super App, the only all-in-one app that guests would need for their journey - from flight to hotel bookings, checking in, through to boarding with the e-Boarding Pass.
