AirAsia Berhad’s Radio Bingo Campaign wins accolades at SATTE Awards
BENGALURU, 16 February 2017 - AirAsia Berhad, the leading and largest low-cost carrier in Asia, today won the SATTE Award for its innovative Radio campaign in New Delhi. UBM India is hosting the SATTE Awards 2017 for the first time, as a pre-cursor to the expo. The awards is an endeavour to recognize and celebrate the excellence, achievements and innovations of key stakeholders in the Travel and Tourism industry. The 19 awards cover various segments of the travel and tourism industry including airlines, cruise, tour operators, hotels, destinations, online travel portal etc. AirAsia Berhad’s Radio Bingo Campaign bagged the award under the Innovation in Airline Marketing & Communications category for the remarkable engagement and results generated.
The 30-day radio campaign was launched in association with Red FM on the show “AIRASIA
RADIO BINGO” in Hyderabad on December 15th 2016. The campaign, designed around the game of Tambola, the Indian version of Bingo, was targeted at creating awareness about AirAsia’s strong connectivity within Malaysia and the lesser known destinations. During the
campaign, Tambola cards were distributed to the public through vernacular and English
newspapers to garner a wider reach and special jingles were created representing different
destinations in Malaysia. Flight vouchers were awarded to 6 winners, who got free return
flights to Malaysia, valid for 6 months.
Mr. Spencer Lee, Commercial Director, AirAsia Berhad said, “This is an exciting win for us. The Hyderabad market has gained greater importance with an increasing base of travellers to Malaysia. There are so many exciting destinations to be discovered and the idea was to generate an awareness about that. The campaign generated great results with more than 2 lakh listeners tuning in every day and 6 winners getting a free return ticket to Malaysia as
well as a whopping 125% increases in sales during the campaign period, viz. 15 Dec 2016 to
13 Jan 2017”.
