Siborong-Borong, 29 October 2018 - AirAsia’s inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur to Silangit - Lake Toba touched down at Silangit International Airport yesterday, marking the airline’s footprint to a new destination in Asean.

AirAsia flight AK411, operated by an Airbus A320, departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 at 10:40am yesterday and landed in Silangit International Airport at 11:00am (local time).  Silangit Airport is the main gateway to the magnificent Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in Asean and one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.

A welcoming event was held at Silangit International Airport to celebrate the momentous occasion. Present at the event were esteemed guests, including Secretary to Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs, Agus Purwoto; Special Staff to Minister of Tourism for Tourism Infrastructure, Judi Rifajantoro; Head of Commercial Scheduled Flight Unit Ministry of Transportation, Tri Danarsih; Regent of North Tapanuli, Nikson Nababan; Regent of Toba Samosir, Edward D. Siagian; CEO of Lake Toba Authority; Executive General Manager Commercial Services Division Angkasa Pura II, Dorma Manalu; Executive General Manager Silangit International Airport, M. Hendra Irawan; AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat and AirAsia Indonesia Group CEO Dendy Kurniawan.
