SEPANG, 21 November 2018 - AirAsia is pleased to add extra late night flights to accommodate travel demand on popular routes for the upcoming Chinese New Year period between 31 January 2019 and 12 February 2019.

AirAsia offers fixed low fares of only RM99* one-way from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, RM149* from Kuala Lumpur to Miri, Sibu and Kuching and RM199* from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu.

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said, “We are a supply and demand airline so fares go up when there is more demand, especially during the festive period. But if there was no AirAsia, prices would be even higher. As the people’s airline, we have found a way to help people by offering extra late night flights for Chinese New Year at fixed low fares, and we wish to thank the government for their assistance in securing approvals.”

He added: “I also want to thank my staff who have to sacrifice their Chinese New Year holidays to do these flights, and for all the hard work it took to put these flights on.”

Minister of Transport YB Loke Siew Fook said, “I am pleased with the additional late night flights announced today by AirAsia. As what I mentioned before, by having more flight frequencies during the festive period, we hope the prices for the popular routes during Chinese New Year can remain low and I am happy to see this reflected on the added late night flights. I encourage everyone who is going back during this festive period to take this opportunity and book their flights now.”
