AirAsia X Q1 2018 preliminary operating statistics

For the 1st Quarter of the Full Financial Year Ending 2018

SEPANG, 26 April 2018 - AirAsia X Berhad (“AAX” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce its operating statistics for the first quarter of 2018 (“1Q18”).

In 1Q18, the Company reported a healthy Passenger Load Factor (“PLF”) of 84%. The total number of passengers carried increased 13% year-on-year (“YoY”) to 1.59 million, exceeding the Available Seat per Kilometer (“ASK”) capacity growth of 10% YoY as the Company catered to increased travel demands arising from festive seasons and school holidays from January to March 2018.

In the month of February, AirAsia X Malaysia rotated some capacity from Australia into Asian market while we continue to build our brand in Australia. The Company has increased flight frequencies to Hangzhou and Taipei, further strengthening the North Asia market. AirAsia X Malaysia began flying to Maldives and Jaipur in February 2018, with Jaipur being the Company’s latest unique route. The fleet size for AirAsia X Malaysia remains at 22 A330s as at end of March 2018.

On the associates, AirAsia X Thailand reported a high PLF of 94%, unchanged from the same period last year. For the quarter under review, AirAsia X Thailand carried a total of 503,259 passengers, rising by 19% as compared to last year’s 423,404 passengers from the same quarter. No additional aircraft was added into AirAsia X Thailand during the quarter under review hence their fleet size at the end of March 2018 remained at 6 aircraft.

AirAsia X Indonesia posted a load factor of 72% in 1Q18. The number of passengers carried totaled to 124,874, up more than 100% YoY. AirAsia X Indonesia ended the quarter under review with a fleet size of 2 aircraft, bringing AirAsia X Group (“the Group”) total fleet to 30 Airbus A330.
