AirAsia India to give away pollution masks to passengers travelling to New Delhi
Partners with mfine to supply masks in flights from other metro cities to New Delhi
Bangalore, 25 November 2019 - AirAsia India in partnership with mfine, a health-tech AI start-up will be giving away pollution masks to all guests on AirAsia India flights going to New Delhi from major metro cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata to combat the deteriorating air quality in the capital.
The overall Delhi air quality index (AQI) in the city currently is 494. According to the monitoring agency SAFAR this index measures the levels of airborne PM 2.5 - particles that can reach deep into the lungs. In winters, there’s a dip in the minimum temperature that makes the air cold and heavy, making it easier for accumulation of pollutants close to the ground. This tie up with mfine is intended to help the guests cope with the changing environmental conditions in the city and stay healthy.
Speaking of the latest development, the COO of AirAsia India Mr. Sanjay Kumar said, “Our primary objective is to serve guests travelling with AirAsia India with best the in-flight experience. With this initiative, we take a step forward to upkeep the health of our guests’ post their flying experience with us. This is for them to have adequate support to avoid health related issues due to the air pollution in the city. We are passionate to work with our guests, employees and other key stakeholders who have come together to bring meaningful stance to our operations”
Mr. Prasad Kompalli, Founder & CEO of mfine added, “Keeping in mind the deteriorating air quality, which inevitably leads to various health issues, we took the initiative to help flyers from metro cities breathe easier in Delhi. We are more than delighted to have joined hands with AirAsia India to make this endeavour a reality. Through this initiative, we hope to contribute to the health of people flying to Delhi every day”
The campaign will commence on 19th November 2019 and end on 29th November 2019.
This step comes after, AirAsia India had recently started the #BYOCCC (Bring your own Cups, Containers, Cutlery) campaign internally to urge its employees to avoid the usage of plastic. The low cost-carrier distributed ceramic coffee mugs and steel bottles to spread awareness on the same.
