Project Kavvaii Seeks New Virtual Idols

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 NOVEMBER 2021 - Project Kavvaii, an initiative by airasia Super App, is searching for new talents to expand its pool of idol talents, following the success of Aozora Kurumi, the company’s first virtual idol. 

Two selected talents from the audition would each receive a one-year contract, and enjoy access to a support team and a complete set of tools for streaming. They will be given the opportunity to be part of the airasia family and collaborate with the team to help shape and build on the character.

Since her debut in May 2021, the inaugural virtual idol Kurumi has completed over 100 streams and hit more than 15,000 subscribers and over 4.8 million video impressions on YouTube. 

airasia Group Chief Brand Officer Rudy Khaw said: “What was originally just an idea and a team effort to explore new avenues has finally come to reality. Kurumi has really brought us closer to the VTubing community. We are really excited to add two more to our growing virtual idol family.”

“Our aim for Project Kavvaii is to eventually develop into a virtual talent arm that provides entertainment and engagement opportunities for fans, for brands, for communities and even pull people into the world of the airasia super app for everyone.”

Launched in March 2021, Project Kavvaii is an online platform aimed at showcasing and empowering the Asean VTuber community by breaking down borders to unite talents and showcase Southeast Asia’s regional identity to the world.

Project Kavvaii will be open for submissions from today until 31 December 2021 in search of multi-talented VTubers who are passionate and have a flair for creating compelling content to grow and shape the future of the virtual idol community in Asean together.

Interested candidates should be streamers who enjoy singing, hosting, gaming, interacting with the VTuber community and would like to explore a career as a content creator.
