Kuala Lumpur, 4 July 2021 - IKHLAS, airasia Digital’s Muslim friendly line of business, aims to raise up to RM1 million through its latest public donation initiative.

The IKHLAS Emergency EMCO Relief Fund seeks to help those whose livelihoods are affected especially during the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Generous donors are welcome to channel their contributions at  ikhlas.com/sadaqah or via the IKHLAS mobile app. 100% of the funds raised through this initiative will be used for logistics cost and purchase daily necessities, including food stuff like rice, bread, cooking oil, flour, salt, sugar and eggs, and ready-to-eat cooked meals for affected families and individuals in the EMCO areas.

In support of small businesses, IKHLAS intends to procure supplies  from local merchants while engaging a number of local delivery riders to transport and distribute the aid. Deliveries will strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the Malaysian National Security Council.

Ikhlas Kamarudin, Head of IKHLAS said, “In these unprecedented, trying times, it is our obligation to lend a helping hand to those in need. Many families and individuals are facing difficulties from the extended lockdown and when we heard about the EMCO taking place, we immediately decided to launch this initiative in the hope of providing immediate assistance to the affected communities in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. We just launched the donation drive two days ago and so far we have managed to raise over RM500,000 through our Sadaqah service for this initiative and hope to reach our goal of RM1 million to assist over 10,000 families and 7,000 individuals, in addition to supporting our local businesses and delivery riders. Let’s continue to help one another and we should be able to overcome these challenges together.”

Since its inception last year, the IKHLAS Sadaqah service has collected over RM2.5 million in donation, benefiting over 25,000 families. The online public donation initiative has also supported affected communities under its special relief campaigns such as IKHLAS for Sabah, IKHLAS for Palestine and weekly distribution drives nationwide.

For convenience, affected households in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor  can reach out to IKHLAS via this link here to request for necessities or ready-to-eat meals assistance. They will be contacted by the IKHLAS team for further arrangements.
