AirAsia launches Bangkok Suvarnabhumi – Hat Yai as its latest domestic route Adds further convenience for travelers between capital and southern cities

BANGKOK, 1 July 2024 - Hot on the heels of winning its 15th consecutive Skytrax award for the World's Best Low Cost Airline, AirAsia today launches its inaugural flight between Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Hat Yai (HDY), the largest city in the South.

The route makes AirAsia the only carrier to offer two different options for flying between Bangkok and Hat Yai. The daily service from Suvarnabhumi to Hat Yai is in addition to its existing eight daily flights from Don Mueang.

AirAsia organized a special sending off ceremony for guests departing Bangkok at the Suvarnabhumi Airport today. The inaugural service kicks off with a staggering 98 percent load factor.

To celebrate the launch, AirAsia is offering a special promotion for flights on both routes between Bangkok and Hat Yai for as low as 990 THB all inclusive for a one way trip. Booking can be made from today up to 12 July 2024 on AirAsia MOVE and airasia.com for immediate travel up until 30 September 2024.

Ms. Tansita Akraritpirom, Head of Commercial for Thai AirAsia, said: “The demand for domestic travel has reached a high with Thai AirAsia seeing load factor averages across all our domestic routes up to 89 percent through the January – May 2024 period. Don Mueang to Hat Yai flights have maintained a load factor average of up to 93 percent through the timeframe, supported by state and Tourism Authority of Thailand promotion, deals from airlines and an increase in international visitors connecting to regional destinations.

“AirAsia has the largest market share and operates the highest number of routes domestically. The introduction of Suvarnabhumi – Hat Yai allows travelers to choose between two airports and adds more convenient connection opportunities for international arrivals to Suvarnabhumi Airport, and we hope this will contribute to further growing the tourism industry, ” Ms. Tansita said.

Aside from its main hub at the Don Mueang Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport is also an important flight base for AirAsia. At present, the airline flies from Suvarnabhumi to four domestic destinations, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi and Hat Yai (starting 1 July 2024), and internationally to Kuala Lumpur.
