Manila, 29 August 2024 - AirAsia Philippines continues to perform as a strong market leader in the island of Boracay, showcasing increasing growth in guest numbers since the pre-pandemic period.

The World’s Best Low-Cost airline flies to Boracay (Caticlan) via Manila, Clark and Cebu. Daily flights originating from Clark International Airport to Boracay are the most affordable at PhP641.

In 2019, more than 450,000 guests flew to the island on AirAsia.  During the pandemic (2020), the figure went down to 81,000, but recovered in 2021 with 202,000, and more than 610,000 in 2022.

Last year more than 1.3 million guests flew and visited the island especially with the opening of AirAsia flights from Clark and Cebu. This is equivalent to 19.6% of the total passengers flown (6.6 million) by the airline in 2023. The figure improved this year, especially with more than 1.1 million guests having already flown to visit the paradise island from January to August 27 alone.

“There is no season required for visiting Boracay. We have seen families and groups of friends visit the island even during Christmas and New Year’s Eve. To say that Boracay is just a summer destination is already passé. Even now Boracay has also become a favorite destination for workation or work from home-hub. Vacation, staycation, or workation, AirAsia Philippines will continue to support our guests’ travel needs by providing the most competitive airfare to Boracay,” AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Head First Officer Steve Dailisan shares.

As of August 2024, AirAsia flies 8x daily from NAIA Terminal 2 to Boracay.  For those who’d like to go on a side trip before visiting the island, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline offers 3x daily flights to Kalibo.  Connectivity to the island from Central Visayas was also made available with daily flights from Mactan Cebu International Airport.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Philippines continues to remind its guests of the strict implementation of its cabin baggage policy which limits hand carry bags to just two - one small bag or laptop bag and a luggage which must total to 7kg only. Guests are also advised to include baggage allowance in planning their trips. AirAsia offers the most flexible baggage allowance, up to 60kg available via airasia.com and the AirAsia MOVE app.
