ADE welcomes Ministry of Finance to its state-of-the-art engineering warehouse; commits to further enhance Malaysia’s position in regional MRO sector
SEPANG, 17 July 2023 – Asia Digital Engineering (ADE), the engineering and maintenance arm of Capital A, has expressed its commitment to continuously enhancing its capabilities as a support pillar to the nation’s economic growth and position Malaysia as a preferred aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) destination in Asia.
The company sees the visit on Tuesday by a delegation from the Ministry of Finance led by Deputy Minister II YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, to its state-of-the-art engineering warehouse, RedChain as a recognition of ADE’s efforts to drive the country’s economy and digital transformation.
The Deputy Minister and his delegation were welcomed by over 150 ADE employees. YB Steven Sim was briefed on ADE’s innovative capabilities in the digital engineering sector and discussed potential collaborations with the government to foster economic growth and technological advancement.
YB Steven Sim also participated in an immersive tour of RedChain's advanced engineering warehouse. The visit provided the Deputy Minister with valuable insights into ADE’s comprehensive end-to-end MRO services, borne out of over 20 years of experience inherited from AirAsia engineering, as well as a showcase of ADE’s in-house developed digital platforms – an innovative B2B aviation marketplace and an advanced aircraft health monitoring software; AEROTRADE & ELEVADE FLEET.
Mahesh Kumar, CEO of ADE said: “We are honoured to have YB Steven Sim visit our engineering warehouse, RedChain. This visit signifies the government's recognition of ADE’s efforts to drive digital transformation in Malaysia. We are committed to working closely with the Ministry of Finance to enhance our capabilities and contribute to the country's economic development."
YB Steven Sim expressed his admiration for ADE's dedication to integrating cutting-edge technology into traditional aviation services, emphasising the importance of such initiatives in enhancing industry standards and stimulating economic growth. The Deputy Minister recognised ADE as a testament to the immense potential of the aviation industry and commended their alignment with the government's agenda of fostering technological advancement.
In line with its commitment to growth and innovation, ADE is set to achieve several milestones. In April, ADE successfully secured an investment of US$100mil from OCP Asia Ltd. which will be used for the construction and operationalisation of a new state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance hangar facility in KLIA Aeropolis, scheduled for completion in mid 2024. The hangar will feature 14 maintenance lines, further bolstering ADE's capacity to deliver top-tier MRO services.
ADE is also taking steps to establish an engineering school and is in discussions with multiple prestigious engineering schools for potential partnerships. This initiative aims to enhance the skill set of aspiring engineers and further strengthen Malaysia's position as a centre of engineering excellence. Notably, ADE has entered into a Letter-of-Intent (LOI) with the University of Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) to establish a Metaverse Centre of Excellence for Aviation and Aerospace (MC4A). This collaboration will prepare the next generation of professionals for future industry challenges through a transformative learning experience.
ADE's wide-reaching impact extends beyond Malaysia, as it has gained approvals from 145 countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, and Nepal. Leveraging the strategic placement of AirAsia mothership AOCs in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, and soon Phnom Penh, ADE serves as a reliable MRO partner for airlines operating within the Asean region and beyond. This extensive coverage contributes to the growth and development of the regional aviation sector.
As a subsidiary of Capital A Berhad, ADE exemplifies the fusion of traditional expertise with innovative technology, paving the way for a thriving aviation sector. Their steadfast pledge to excellence and digital innovation aligns closely with the government's agenda, which seeks to promote technological advancement, elevate industry standards, and foster economic growth.
