KUALA LUMPUR, 07 July 2022 - AirAsia Academy, the edutech arm under Capital A Berhad, announced today that it is formally launching the On-Demand Learning (ODL) platform in hopes of empowering and igniting Malaysians to start a journey of lifelong learning. This is in line with the company’s mission to provide affordable and accessible digital education to all. At the same time, the platform’s ODL offerings align with AirAsia Academy’s partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to produce skilled graduates to match the needs of IR 4.0 and to propel the country as a digitally-driven nation.

The ODL platform, a one-stop EduTech library containing more than 16,000 videos from various tech and non-tech contents, is developed to cater to the convenience of the subscribers and will complete the AirAsia Academy learning experience. It also further strengthens AirAsia Academy’s capability as the nation’s leading training powerhouse in EduTech aimed at making digital training more inclusive.

The launch was commenced by Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad and Aireen Omar, President (Ventures) Capital A and CEO of AirAsia Academy.

Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad said: “I would like to congratulate Capital A Berhad and AirAsia Academy on the launch of On-Demand Learning (ODL) Portal. I am confident that this portal will be one of the main sources that offers flexibility in education, not only for students and IPT graduates, but also the youth, professionals and also other Malaysians.”Aside from that, Dr Noraini reiterated that the implementation of the Pelan Transformasi Digital Graduan Universiti (PTDGU) is one of the strategic efforts between AirAsia Academy, Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) to ensure that graduates can fulfil the needs of the tech-driven industry.

“We are honoured to be part of the AirAsia Academy journey as it is inline with them expanding in the online education sector,” she adds.

Aireen Omar, President (Ventures) Capital A and CEO of AirAsia Academy said: “We are excited to be formally launching our On-Demand Learning platform and feel honoured to have the backing of the Ministry of Higher Education to give our vision of making education accessible a stronger impetus. I am proud of what the team has achieved in creating this ODL product line; it was materialised just six months after the idea was conceived, and the rate at which the academy has acquired and developed ODL content is just as amazing. In just two months, it was offering over 16,000 unique courses and the number is expected to exceed 20,000 by the end of 2022. We are confident the market response will be great, as more and more people discover and love the all-you-need-to-know content available on our platform.”

The platform is designed for people of all ages who are eager to learn something new every day. While it takes pride in having a large database of technology-related content, including content on artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics, the platform also houses content on education, such as Jom Tuisyen, which gives both parents and students the access to the local Malaysian curriculum from Standard 1 through Form 5.

To mark the occasion, a certificate-receiving ceremony was held for the graduates under the Program Transformasi Digital Graduan Universiti (PTGDU) initiative, a partnership between Ministry of Higher Education, UTM and AirAsia Academy aimed at producing job-ready Tech Graduates through the Academy’s reskilling program. Many have secured jobs in digital marketing, software engineering and data analytics in the tech industry in numerous organisations including the Capital A group of companies, Carsome and other local tech companies.

Vice-Chancellor of University Technology of Malaysia (UTM), Datuk Prof Ts. Dr Ahmad Fauzi b Ismail said: “Our partnership with AirAsia Academy has been focused to create job-ready students to match the talent needs of IR 4.0 in Malaysia. UTM will always provide its support to MOHE’s initiatives and ensure that the collaborative relationship between UTM and AirAsia Academy will continue to prosper in the future.”

ODL is available for subscription through three tiers – a 1-year subscription plan retailed at RM28/month, a 3-month subscription retailed at RM48/month and a 1-month subscription retailed at RM 69/month. With the purchase of any subscription plan, subscribers can get access to more than 16,000 videos ranging from various subjects in Tech and beyond. Some in-house content also allows the option for assessment to keep subscribers in check throughout their course tracks. For a limited time only, AirAsia Academy will offer a ONE Month FREE subscription fee for those who sign up with the code AAAFREEMONTH from 7 July to 10 July 2022
