CEBU, 8 February 2019 - AirAsia, the World’s best Low Cost Airline, today flew its maiden flight from Mactan Cebu International Airport to Macau International Airport with 100% pax load. AirAsia flight Z2 7090 departed on time with pilot in command Captain Narciso Grafilo and Flight Officer Abegail Bacus.

AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador said at the send-off ceremony, “We are delighted to welcome the New Year with our newest international flight from Cebu to Macao. We are here to provide connectivity, excellent service, unparalleled low fares, safe, and reliable airline service that every Cebuano, every traveler truly deserves.”

Macau blends Portuguese culture and traditional Chinese traits and it includes 25 world historical heritages in a single city. Stroll amidst the European-style neoclassical buildings and browse the boutiques along Senado Square. Then take a tour to the Ruins of St. Paul’s, Macau’s most famous landmark built in the 16th century originally as a college and cathedral.

To get the most spectacular bird’s eye view of the city, head to Macau Tower, a 338m national monument which offers thrilling activities such as Tower Climb, Bungee Jump, Sky Jump, or Skywalk. Also known as ‘The Vegas of Asia,’ Macau is packed with entertainment centres, such as the lavish Venetian Macau and Macau Fisherman's Wharf, a huge complex of theme park ideal for the whole family. Moreover, no visit to Macau is complete without enjoying their famous egg tarts; Minchi – Macau’s national dish with minced beef, potatoes, onions, soy sauce, topped with black fungus and fried egg over rice; salt fish cakes; Macanese-style prawns and many more.

Red colorful decorations for the Chinese New Year adorned the airport with traditional Chinese snacks and souvenir items for all AirAsia passengers and distinguished guests. Traditional Lion dance welcomed guests at the entrance hall of the newly opened Mactan Cebu International Airport Terminal 2.

“The celebration continues for Cebu after the successful Sinulog Festival, AirAsia is here again and thrilled to paint your skies red,” Comendador said.
