AirAsia is Back at Suvarnabhumi! Direct Flights Resume Oct 1 to Chiang Mai, Krabi, and Phuket
Double the Convenience: Choose between Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi while enjoying Thailand’s largest network and unmatched punctuality.
BANGKOK, 1 October 2026 – Thai AirAsia has officially resumed flight operations from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) starting today, 1 October, marking the occasion with vibrant welcome activities for our guests. Inaugural flights across all three revived routes—Chiang Mai, Krabi, and Phuket—took to the skies with an impressive load factor of over 82%. This strategic return underscores AirAsia's commitment to delivering unparalleled convenience, giving travelers flying in and out of Bangkok the flexibility to seamlessly choose between both Don Mueang (DMK) and Suvarnabhumi (BKK) airports.
Ms. Witchunee Kuntapeng, Head of Guest Service for Thai AirAsia, shared, "Today, October 1st, AirAsia and all of our staff are fully prepared and excited to provide our signature service at Suvarnabhumi Airport. We hosted special welcome activities at our Suvarnabhumi check-in counters to greet our guests and showcase our full readiness to operate from this premier international hub, beautifully complementing our primary base at Don Mueang. The guest response has been incredibly positive, particularly as we enter the high-demand year-end travel season. We are kicking off our Suvarnabhumi operations with direct flights on our most popular domestic routes, offering six daily flights to Chiang Mai, two daily flights to Krabi, and five daily flights to Phuket."
"As the year-end approaches, AirAsia continues to expand our route network and increase flight frequencies both domestically and internationally," Ms. Kuntapeng added. "Operating from Suvarnabhumi is highly strategic, as it allows for seamless connections with a vast array of international flights. We are confident that AirAsia’s core strengths—renowned punctuality, a diverse route network, and a wide selection of convenient flight times—will perfectly accommodate and meet the needs of all our passengers."
This operational expansion follows AirAsia’s recent triumph in mid-September, where the airline was crowned the "World’s Best Low-Cost Airline" by Skytrax for an unprecedented 17th consecutive year. In our ongoing mission to elevate the travel experience, AirAsia has also introduced exciting new services. This includes exclusive perks for our senior guests (aged 60 and above), who can now enjoy dedicated check-in counters, priority baggage claim, and adjacent Standard seats (subject to availability). These initiatives reinforce our dedication to delivering unbeatable value while continuously innovating our service quality.
