AirAsia Philippines completes IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA)

AirAsia’s brand new Airbus A320 fitted with sharklets gets the traditional water canon salute upon arrival at Laguindingan International Airport in Cagayan De Oro City last October 28 to celebrate the airline’s newest flight from Cagayan de Oro to Manila, Clark, Cebu and Iloilo.

MANILA, 5 November 2018 – AirAsia Philippines has been officially registered as an International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registered operator, following the completion of the IOSA audit.

AirAsia Philippines is the fourth airline within AirAsia Group to achieve IOSA certification, after AirAsia X Malaysia in 2014, AirAsia Indonesia in August 2018 and AirAsia Malaysia in September 2018.

AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador said, “We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed IOSA certification. This achievement is a recognition of everyone at AirAsia’s dedication to safety and security.”

IOSA is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess an airline’s operational management and control systems and is regarded by the industry as the global benchmark for safety management.

The audit, conducted every two years, covers eight functional and operational areas: organisation and management system, flight operations, operational control and flight dispatch, aircraft engineering and maintenance, cabin operations, ground handling operations, cargo operations and security management.

Earlier this year, AirAsia Philippines received its ISO Certificate which gives world class specification for products, services, and systems to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency. ISO 9001:2015 helps ensure guests get consistent, good quality products, and services. This international standard is based on quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continuous improvement.

“We are closing this year with two important achievements from IOSA and ISO and it is but fitting to dedicate an aircraft to our hardworking team who we proudly call, Allstars. We are officially launching this month a special Allstars livery bearing faces of more than one thousand Filipino Allstars including AirAsia Group’s management team,” Comendador added.

AirAsia Philippines started with only two aircraft in 2012 when the airline began its commercial operation in Clark, Pampanga, and currently operates a fleet of 21 Airbus A320s from its hubs in Manila, Cebu, Kalibo and Clark.

AirAsia in the Philippines offers several domestic and international flights from its hub in Manila, Cebu, Kalibo and Clark. Keep updated with AirAsia’s latest promotion and activities via twitter (@AirAsiaFilipino), Facebook (facebook.com/AirAsiaPH) and on Instagram (@AirAsiaFilipino).
