PERTH, 4 November 2022 - AirAsia X (AAX) today celebrates its return to Perth Airport, delivering greater value and choice for West Australians eager to return to Asia as demand for air travel surges post pandemic.
The inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur arrived at 7:55am this morning and departed Perth at 09:10am arriving back in Kuala Lumpur at 2:55pm. Three weekly services for travel in November which increase to five weekly return services in December due to popular demand, are on sale now from AUD209/RM599 for economy and under AUD800/RM1,899 for a Premium Flatbed for travel period between 1 January to 28 October 2023.
Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AAX said: “It’s great to be back with our direct services between Kuala Lumpur and Perth, following the launch of new services to Melbourne and Auckland earlier this week.
“West Australia has always been amongst our most popular destinations for leisure, tourism, students and the visiting friends and family markets and given its close proximity to South East Asia which is why this is one of the first destinations we are returning to post pandemic.
“Aussies love our great value fares to Malaysia which also connect to our vast network throughout Asia to everyone’s favourite holiday destinations such as Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, India, South Korea, Vietnam and many more.
“We thank our tourism and airport partners for helping make these new services a reality and look forward to growing them in line with strong forecast demand.”
Sister airline Indonesia AirAsia has recently doubled its services from Perth to Bali to meet strong consumer demand - now flying twice daily on the incredibly popular route.
Kevin Brown, Chief Executive Officer, Perth Airport said: “It is great to see AirAsia X back at Perth Airport with its Perth-Kuala Lumpur service. The three weekly service is great news for the travelling public and highlights the airline’s commitment to the Western Australian market.
“International passenger traffic is still down on pre-Covid numbers but it is positive to see our airline partners coming back to Perth.
“Perth Airport will continue to work with our airline partners and the State Government to increase services to Perth as international airline connectivity is crucial for the tourism, business, and education sector’s recovery.”
AAX is also painting the three cities red in Australia with prominent street advertising in November and consumer promotions in Sydney (Martin Place, Sydney CBD, 15 November) and Melbourne (Queensbridge Square, Melbourne CBD on 7 November) from 11am-2pm with exciting activities and giveaways, Malaysian food trucks, music and more.
