KOLKATA, 3 October 2017 - Following the commencement of daily service connecting Mumbai and Bali in May this year, AirAsia Indonesia officiates the operations of another route to India, with a four times weekly service from Bali to Kolkata.

The service marks the second route to India from the Indonesian affiliate of the World’s Best Low Cost Carrier, AirAsia, strengthening connectivity between the Paradise Island and India.

The flight departed Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata to arrive at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali.

The passengers of the inaugural flight were sent off to lamp lighting and cake cutting ceremonies, attended by esteemed guests, including the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in India, Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro; authorities of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport and Commercial Director of AirAsia Indonesia, Rifai Taberi.

The route has been opened for sales since 17 August 2017, exactly at the commemoration of Indonesia’s 72nd Independence Day.

Group CEO of AirAsia in Indonesia Dendy Kurniawan said, “We would like to thank the Government of India, regulators, airport authorities and all our business partners for their continuous support for making it possible for AirAsia Indonesia to operate this service. By operating a service to the second city in India after Mumbai, this will enable more Indians to enjoy dream holiday destination in Bali. With only approximately seven and a half hours, including a brief stop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this service is the fastest option of getting to Bali from Kolkata.  At the same time this new route will also allow Indonesians to visit the cultural capital of India.

Dubbed as tropical paradise, Bali is Indonesia’s main tourist gateway well-known for its unrivaled natural beauty with its sandy beaches for beach lovers and avid surfers, rice field terraces for laid-back honeymooners, the serenity of Ubud for yoga enthusiast, as well as iconic traditions that blend peacefully with pop culture – Bali offers plenty of everything for everyone.
