AirAsia advises guests to plan ahead for Formula 1 race weekend
SEPANG, 29 September 2026 – In conjunction with the Formula 1 race weekend at Sepang International Circuit from 2 to 4 October 2026, AirAsia advises all guests travelling through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) to plan their journey ahead, as higher passenger volumes and heavier traffic are expected around the airport and surrounding areas throughout the event.
Guests travelling during the race weekend are advised to allow additional travel time to the airport due to anticipated congestion on major routes leading to KLIA Terminal 2 and the Sepang International Circuit.
Guests are advised to:
Arrive at the airport at least three (3) hours before the scheduled departure time for international flights and two (2) hours before the scheduled departure time for domestic flights.
All guests, including those travelling under group bookings, are strongly encouraged to complete self check-in via the AirAsia MOVE app or our website. Self check-in is available from 14 days up to one (1) hour before the scheduled departure time.
To check their latest flight status via the AirAsia MOVE app or airasia.com before departing for the airport. Guests are also encouraged to follow AirAsia’s official social media channels for the latest travel advisories.
Please note that check-in counters are designated for guests requiring reduced mobility assistance and other special assistance needs.
Malaysian passport holders travelling internationally are encouraged to use the MyNIISe or MyBorderPass app to facilitate a smoother immigration clearance process at KLIA Terminal 2. Please ensure the relevant app is downloaded in advance and follow the instructions provided in the app.
To facilitate convenient and reliable public transport access to the KLIA2, guests are encouraged to use the Express Rail Link (ERL).
Stay updated on traffic advisories and road closure announcements from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and plan alternative routes where necessary.
