AirAsia Brings Bali and Jakarta Closer to Hong Kong Travelers

Hong Kong, 9 August 2024 – Indonesia AirAsia, is expanding its wings in Asia by launching direct flights from Bali and Jakarta to Hong Kong. The new routes aim to enhance connectivity between Southeast Asia and Asia.

As the only low-cost carrier providing direct flights from Hong Kong to the popular destinations of Bali(DPS) and Jakarta(CGK), AirAsia is thrilled to offer our passengers convenient and affordable travel options, eliminating the need for transit on these new routes.

Based on data from the the Statistics Bureau of Indonesia (BPS), from January to June 2024, foreign tourists from Hong Kong have reached 13,673 visits. This number is nearly 98.5% of the total visits in 2023, which amounted to 13,885. Meanwhile, according to data from the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), tourists from Indonesia visiting Hong Kong in 2023 increased by 3,276.87%, or 252,432 tourists, compared to 2022, which had 7,480 tourists.

With the addition of direct flights between Jakarta (CGK)/Bali (DPS) and Hong Kong, it is hoped that the number of visits to both sides will continue to increase until the end of 2024.

Flight tickets for both routes can be booked starting today. The first flight from Hong Kong to Bali will commence on 1 October 2024, with a daily frequency of one flight per day. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong-Jakarta route will begin operating on 8 October 2024, also with a daily frequency of one flight per day.

To celebrate these new routes, AirAsia is thrilled to offer special promotional fares for flights to Bali/Jakarta from as low as HKD388* one way. This promotion is available for booking on AirAsia MOVE (formerly airasia Superapp) and airasia.com from now until 18 August 2024 for the travel period between 1 October 2024 to 28 March 2025 (Bali) and between 8 October 2024 to 29 March 2025 (Jakarta) respectively.

Jakarta offers a range of attractions including the National Monument (Monas), Old Town (Kota Tua), Ancol, and the Thousand Islands. Bali, on the other hand, is renowned for its stunning beaches, magnificent temples, and rich cultural heritage, which is showcased through traditional dances and ceremonies. Additionally, visitors can embark on further explorations from Jakarta and Bali to destinations such as Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Semarang and Lombok.

AirAsia reminds passengers to comply with cabin baggage regulations, which allow for carrying bags or luggage weighing a maximum of 7 kg per person. If the weight exceeds this limit, it is recommended to put it in checked baggage via the check-in counter at the departure airport.
