Thai AirAsia Partners with Ministry of Commerce to Feature Thai Farmers’ Fruits on In-Flight Menu

Thai AirAsia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce, to support Thai fruit farmers by purchasing 1,000 tonnes of fresh longan, mangosteen, and Phulae pineapple that will be featured on its in-flight menu. These high-quality fruits will be transformed into a variety of food and beverage items, which will be served on all Thai AirAsia (FD) and Thai AirAsia X (XJ) flights, both domestic and international, starting this July.

AirAsia launches latest Fifth Freedom route connecting Chiang Mai - Taipei - Sapporo

AirAsia marks another milestone in its regional expansion with the fourth Fifth Freedom route connecting Chiang Mai, Thailand and Sapporo, Japan with a stopover in Taipei. The new service began operations on 15 June 2025 and will run daily using Airbus A320 aircraft, offering 180 seats per flight.

To celebrate the inaugural journey, AirAsia hosted special welcome events at Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei and Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport. The celebrations featured representatives from the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in Japan, the Hokkaido Tourism Organization, Hokkaido Airport, and local mascot Kyun-chan, who greeted arriving guests. The first flight achieved an impressive 85% load factor, underscoring strong demand across the sectors.

Thai AirAsia Co., Ltd. has partnered with Kasikornbank to execute Thailand’s first foreign exchange (FX) risk management agreement in the airline sector linked to greenhouse gas reduction initiatives under the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization’s (TGO) Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS). Under this partnership, Kasikornbank will provide preferential FX rates to Thai AirAsia upon meeting certain milestones tied to the LESS program, reinforcing a shared commitment to a low-carbon society. The agreement references Thai AirAsia’s achievement in receiving a Certificate of Honor from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) for its voluntary emission reduction activities. This collaboration also strengthens the role of the Thailand Climate Business Network (ThaiCBN), a coalition of Kasikornbank, Thai AirAsia, and 23 other leading national and international organizations, working collectively to transition Thailand toward net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
